Clinical and Interpretive

This profile is useful for identifying illicit opioid use or determining prescription compliance. Targeted opiates in this panel include: Buprenorphine, Fentanyl, Methadone, Hydrocodone, and Oxycodone. A seven analyte drugs of abuse panel is also performed including: Cannabinoids, Cocaine, PCP, Opiates, Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines, and Barbiturates. Hydrocodone testing is cross-reactive with hydromorphone. Likewise, oxycodone testing is cross-reactive with oxymorphone. Detected heroin, morphine, and codeine will screen positive under Opiates of the drugs of abuse panel.

All tests are Enzymatic Immunoassay (EIA) and are reported qualitatively as “presumptive positive” or “none detected” relative to a cut-off value. The test is intended for clinical/diagnostic use only and should not be ordered as part of chain of custody or pre-employment screening. Presumptive positive results are unconfirmed; confirmation testing for specific analytes can be ordered at provider request, and for additional charge. The detectable presence of specific compounds may vary depending on sample collection timing following dose, individual metabolism, and compound pharmacokinetics.
